SOS Connected
Autumn Edition

Hi S.S.S.O.S.S (Our Simply Sensational Suicide or Survive Supporters)
Despite the recent beautiful warm spell, the lengthening evenings tell us that the autumn is knocking on our calendar’s door waiting to be invited in. Changing seasons are always a good time to reflect and to plan forward so we thought that we would let you know what’s going on with us here at SOS HQ.
In this newsletter we want to share with you the incredible things that have been happening at SOS where between programmes, workplace wellness, fundraisers and special events we’ve been a busy bunch and want to make sure you haven’t missed anything. Our 202020 campaign is under way and our goal is to raise just over €200k before September of 2020 and we are confident that with your help we can achieve this goal and maybe even more. Together we can do this.
In this newsletter, you will read more about our programmes and who we’ve been working with plus more information on how to bring a workshop to your community. If you’ve been on one of our programmes we would love to hear from you. While you’re browsing through you will also get a chance to read in more detail about the upcoming Remembrance Run in November, a great day to run, walk or jog 5k in memory of someone passed.
On behalf of SOS I want to say a huge thank you for your continued support. We remain focused on and passionate about our mission to make mental health and wellness and integral part of ordinary everyday life.
Enjoy this edition of our Connect Newsletter and please do get in touch with us if you want to get more involved in breaking down the stigma of mental health.

SKY SOCCER PALOOZA 2019
Suicide or Survive’s inaugural SKY Soccer Palooza was a great success, An amazing day of football, friendship and positive vibes. The Soccer Palooza was born to give SOS an event to mark World Suicide Prevention Day 2019. Our objective was to reach a new target group of people, allowing us to spread awareness of SOS, raise funds and to break down the stigma around Mental health but above all just to get people talking about wellness.
We had an amazing turnout, Corporate teams from Sky, Momentum Support, Ibec, Fórsa to name just a few as well as Community partner teams, such as Brady’s of Shankill and a great group of guys and gals from the community called Shankill FC, who came in runners up. The winning team of the innaugral Sky SOS Soccer Palooza was “The Steamers “ from Mullingar a great bunch of lads who left everything on the field of play including skin and hair and a lot of laughs! It was a day to remember. So we will be hosting Soccer Palooza as an annual event and we aim to grow it year on year – so keep an eye out on our social media for dates in 2020. Big thanks to our amazing Sponsors at SKY Ireland, Paul in Sports Outlet Mullingar , Eoin in Buckley’s SuperValu Mullingar, John Hannon & Tanglewood guitars Rochforts Superstore – Mullingar Music. Huge thanks to Danny from the Coronas who took time out from their busy touring schedule to add his voice to ours.Â
Until next year..one more time Ole Ole Ole Ole

202020 CAMPAIGN
Our goal at SOS is to raise just over €200k before September next year.Â
It is, if you like, a 202020 vision. So why is it important for us to raise funds ? Well quite frankly, without funds in our accounts we will not be able to run any of our life changing programmes or provide the services that have impacted so many lives.Â
We need to recruit fundraisers and supporters that will help us reach this exciting target. In short we feel that to raise €200k all we need is 100 people who feel they can raise or donate €1000 and 1000 people who feel they could raise or donate €100. Imagine being part of our group of active supporters and knowing that the funds you raise will actually make a difference to someone’s life
If we try to do this on our own this is probably a Mission Impossible.Â
However, we know that with your help this is doable.
So get your thinking cap on, gather a group of like-minded adventurers with big hearts and let’s do this.Â
If you have an idea for an event, whether that’s running a marathon, hosting a coffee morning, doing a charity hike, or even having a Facebook birthday in aid of SOS, whatever the event may be, we want to hear from you.
